D.U.Y. v Cliftonville. Score 3 - 2

This was a match that DUY had to win to keep up the challenge on the leaders and with a team like Cliftonville travelling to Dungannon it wasn’t going to be easy, the game started with DUY having all the play resulting in them taking the lead just after 10 mins with Jason Cluff running unopposed the full length of the pitch and struck a well directed shot that deceived the keeper into the back of the net. DUY kept up the pressure and duly got their second in the way of a penalty which was converted by Kevin Curran, with half time just mins away Cliftonville pulled one back with some mix up in the box a cliftonville player got his head on the ball and sent a looping ball over the DUY keeper. 2 – 1 Half time. The lads were asked to step up the pace in the second half which they did well with chances falling for Matty Montgomery, Kevin Curran and Rian McHugh coming thick and fast, it was only a matter of time till the third goal came and when it did it came from an unlikely source DUY’s right back Kyle Procter with what can only be described as a cross/shot which flew into the top corner leaving the keeper no chance. With the game coming to an end Cliftonville scored a consolation goal to make the score look more respectable. Manager Karle Farquhar said afterwards that the football being played by the lads is a pleasure to watch at present but that it isn’t going to be like that all season, he has asked that ALL the lads keep up the hard work and commitment at training week in week out.        Man of Match … Jason Cluff

Dungannon U15 V S.O.P.F.C

Having to travel to Belfast for what could have been a tricky encounter was turned into a one sided affair. DUY took control from the very first whistle with chances coming thick and fast and after just 6 mins the first goal came with a well controlled pass by Matty Montgomery who duly slotted the ball into the net, With all the the pressure at the s.o.p.f.c end it was only a matter of time till the next goal came which was in the form of a penalty by Craig McMorris, 2 mins later DUY had another penalty which was slotted home by Jason Cluff. 3 - 0 half time.

At half time manager Karle Farquhar asked the players to up their passing game which they did to brilliant effect firstly with Sean Keenan scoring number 4 with a well placed shot into the bottom corner then came the goal of the day with 13 passes from keeper right through the team resulting in a great cross from new signing Craig Breen which was headed in by DUY goalkeeper Chris Johns who changed places with Sean Keenan outfield with 20 mins remaining. Managers Karle and Stephen said afterwards that they were well impressed with the second half performance and that the passing and movement they showed will set them up for a bigger test next week against Cliftonville.

M.O.M was Rian McHugh.

D.U.Y. V LIMAVADY 19/3/09 6-0 to D.U.Y.

M.O.M Rian McHugh.

This match was a continuation from the last few weeks with some excellent passing football right from the start resulting in Matty Montgomery netting a left foot shot well past the keeper with only 3 mins gone, then came number 2 and 3 in quick succession with Kevin Curran and then Jason Cluff with two well struck shots. DUY were now playing with alot of confidence resulting in some great one touch football all through the team. The fourth came from a rare headed goal from the cheetah Jason Cluff, then number 5 just before half time was a well taken header by M.O.M Rian McHugh. The second half was a quiet affair with very few chances. Must report that Mr kyle Procter came from the bench to play in midfield and had a glorious chance but missed the net from 3 yards out (unlucky) but he made up for it a short time later by scoring the sixth from close range. Well Done to all of the lads and next up is a tricky match against Ballnamallard away on Sat. 21st March.
