Dungannon Swifts U16s 1 – Ballinamallard 0

Dungannon Swifts u16s continued their winning ways with a hard fought 1-0 win over Fermanagh side Ballinnamallard.

The game started off brightly for the swifts and could have scored in the first ten minutes when Tyrone milk cup star Darragh Kavanagh raced up the left wing got to the bye line and whipped in a cross which was met in the air by Tiernan McKay who rattled the cross bar. The swifts kept pressing and a long range shot from Danny McNulty shook the bar again.

Into the second half playing into a srong wind the swifts picked up where they left off in the first half but chance after chance went and the swifts still failed to score it was looking like one of those days. With the game going into injury time a 0-0 draw was looking likely until a long throw in by Matthew Walsh was handled in the box by a Ballinamallard defender for a last gasp penalty for the swifts. Everybody knew it was the last kick of the game and a goal would win it, up stepped the vice-captain Daryl Magee with the pressure on to hit a thumping shot to give the keeper no chance and the celebrations began.

Fulltime; Swifts 1 Ballinamallard 0.

The swifts weren’t at their best but still deserved to win over the course of the game. Best for the swifts were Jake Ferguson, Daryl Magee, Darragh Kavanagh (WARDY) and man of the match Danny McNulty who worked his socks off all day. Well done lads.

Training continues in Coalisland 6.45 Wednesday night.
